Doug Rasheed is a three-time diamond-platinum certified music producer and author. He is best known for producing and co-writing the multi-award-winning mega-hit “Gangsta’s Paradise,” which garnered him a Grammy nomination and two BMI Awards. This certified diamond single has amassed over 3 billion streams globally and has been sampled by artists such as Busta Rhymes, Ella Henderson, and Slim Thug, among many others.
Additionally, Doug produced and co-wrote two of Tupac Shakur's most iconic tracks, "Only God Can Judge Me" and “I’d Ratha Be Ya N****" from the certified diamond album "All Eyez On Me" released by Death Row Records. Like “Gangsta’s Paradise,” he played all the instruments on these recordings and provided the vocals for the hook on “Only God Can Judge Me.”
He has collaborated with a diverse roster of artists, including Jamie Foxx, LL Cool J, Brandy, Barry White, New Edition, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, and Montell Jordan, with his records collectively selling over 30 million copies worldwide. Doug also received a BMI Performance Award for his writing and composition contributions to Megan Thee Stallion’s hit single “B.I.T.C.H.” from her “Suga” album.
His work has been part of several award-winning album projects, including "Gangsta's Paradise" (Grammy winner for "Best Rap Solo Performance" in 1996, Grammy nomination for Rap Album of the Year in 1997, and Billboard Award for Single of the Year in 1995), Chaka Khan's "Funk This" (Grammy winner for R&B Album of the Year in 2008), and Barry White's "Staying Power" (Grammy winner for Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance in 2000).
